Reading can be an expensive hobby.
Of course, there is the wonderful Faulkner County Public Library, of which I am a frequent visitor. But sometimes, as readers, we want to be able to keep our books without the restrictions of due dates, and purchasing novels brand new is simply not plausible for everyone. This is where thrifting comes into play.
As a little library steward, I am always looking for cheap but quality books. The whole purpose of little free libraries is to make reading more accessible and less wasteful. Buying second hand is not only cheaper and more sustainable, but it is fun! Finding great titles is like hunting for treasure, and it is something that I look forward to every single week.
For this blog, I have compiled a list of my 7 favorite places to buy second hand books right here in Conway, AR!

1. Book Traders (1120 Hogan Ln)
When I first walked into this bookstore, the sheer amount of novels took my breath away. Don't be deceived, this picture shows just a single room. There are rows of other shelves, books stacked on tables, under tables, in corners! And the titles are of such high quality.
Hours:
Mon-Sat: 9AM-6PM
Sunday: 12-6PM
Pricing:
Around $10 per book

2. St Joseph Flea Market
(1313 College Ave)
This is truly one of my favorite places to shop! I have found some great books in their adult section, which features new titles every single week. They also have a kids section, which ranges everywhere from YA novels to baby board books.
Hours:
Thurs: 8AM-3PM
Fri: 9AM- 3PM
Sat: 9AM-2PM
Pricing:
Hardback- $1, Paperback- $0.50, Kid's- $0.25

3. Goodwill (2425 Sanders Rd)
Like St. Joseph, I have found some amazing steals at this Goodwill Location: Book of the Month (BOTM) picks which would have cost me close to $20 at a big chain store, as well as great children's titles. The quality can be a bit spotty, and sometimes I don't find a single novel worth buying, but that is part of the fun of shopping second hand! If you stay on the lookout, you will reap the rewards.
Hours:
Mon-Sat: 9AM-8PM
Pricing:
Around 1-2 dollars.

4. Salvation Army (2125 Harkrider St)
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of titles this Salvation Army has to offer. They have books for all age groups, and the shelves are extremely well organized. This is a great place to stop by at the same time as the Goodwill on Sanders Rd., since they are so close to each other. It is always fun to make a day out of visiting various thrift shops!
Hours:
Mon-Fri: 8AM-5PM
Pricing:
Hardback- $1, Paperbacks- $0.50

5. Goodwill (245 Oak St)
Like the other Goodwill on this list, this location often has amazing gems hidden if you're willing to look hard enough. Just recently, I found Scythe by Neal Shusterman and A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, and it only cost me 2 dollars!
Hours:
Mon-Sat: 9AM-8PM
Pricing:
Around 1-2 dollars

6. Habitat for Humanity
(1350 EW Martin Dr)
At the time of writing this, I have only been here once. The books are a bit disorganized, but they are located right at the front, and they are very cheaply priced. I found some great classics, some modern bestsellers, and a lot of amazing children's titles. In all, I got 12 books for 3 dollars. How awesome is that?
Hours:
Sat: 8AM-1PM
Pricing:
All books $0.25 each

7. The Go Store (807 Court St)
Like Habitat for Humanity, I have only been to this store once, though I will definitely be back. I found some amazing YA titles, a few adult reads, and even a children's book I used to love when I was little. The books are well organized, and the store overall is just a wonderful little place to shop!
Hours:
Tues-Sat: 10AM-6PM
Pricing:
Hardback- $1, Paperback- $0.50
